Bernadette Hall, from Christchurch, will read from The Judas Tree, a wonderful collection, that she has just edited, of poems by Lorna Staveley Anker.

Also sharing their poems will be Paula Green, with her new volume The Baker’s Thumbprint, Kiri Piahana- Wong with Night Swimming, and Penny Somervaille, who MCs Poetry Live and has been published in Side Stream, Potroast and Blackmail Press.

Both Bernadette & Paula will also read, as a tribute, some poems by the late Sarah Broom.

Join author Alison McCulloch, Laila Harre and The Women’s Bookshop for the Auckland celebration of this important book, subtitled The Abortion Rights Struggle in New Zealand.

It chronicles a crucial but neglected chapter in our recent history – an impassioned battle that began with the passing of our conservative law in the 1970’s and continues to the present day.
