Jane Blonde Sensational Spylet – Jill Marshall
Pan Macmillan $17.99

Janey Brown is your average schoolgirl. That is, until she meets the slightly crazy, rapping G-Mamma who is her godmother, and learns about her family history. Her mother Jean Brown was actually Gina Bellarina, an international spy working for “SPI” (Solomon’s Polificational Investigations), until her Uncle Sol brainwashes Jean so that she forgets her spy life and can live a normal life with her daughter Janey.

Janey also learns more about her father Boz “Brilliance” Brown who supposedly died in a lab accident. At first Janey thinks G-mamma is crazy but she comes to realise that G-mamma is completely serious. When Janey learns that she and her mum could be in danger she is forced to become the thing her family wanted to try and stop her from becoming: a spylet. Uncle Sol has his hands on something so big he doesn’t trust even those in his close circle, like the Sinnerlease Group. Will Janey be able to foil the Sinnerlease Group’s plan to steal Uncle Sol’s secret before it’s too late?

The Jane Blonde series is about the life of Janey Brown who after finding out about her family history has to adjust to her new life as a spylet. Being a spylet as well as a schoolgirl is a very busy and at times strange double life.

Jane Blonde Sensational Spylet is the first book in the Jane Blonde series. The other four books in the Jane Blonde series that are out so far are Jane Blonde Spies Trouble, Jane Blonde Twice The Spylet, Jane Blonde Spylet On Ice and coming soon to the shelves Jane Blonde Goldenspy.

I highly recommend this series for readers aged 9/10+

This book sounds like it would be a great read for my niece Jessica. We share a love of books so I research good books for her and with her. She loves this genre. She just finished a similar book called, "Bitter Tastes" by V.B. Rosendahl. Like Jane Blonde, main character Kathy is a gutsy girl-hero who isn't afraid to do what she thinks is right.

I will pick up "Jane Blonde Sensational Spylet" and Jessica and I will report back.

Thank you for the recommendation!
