DAVID AND GOLIATH – THE BAIN FAMILY MURDERS
Joe Karam Reed Publishing $30

This book, originally published in 1997, sold over 35,000 copies and has been through four reprints. A bestseller by any standards. Now Reed Publishing have republished it, with a new preface by the author with his thoughts since David Bain’s release from prison in May this year.

David Bain and Joe Karam certainly dominated our TV screens and newspaper front pages at the time Bain was released from prison and since then hardly a week has gone by without pictures of the pair popping up somewhere.

There is no doubt there is huge public interest in this case which will be heightened further when Bain’s retrial for the murders of five members of his family in Dunedin in June 1994 gets underway. This is scheduled for early 2008.

The public interest and curiosity concerning the case should ensure an ongoing sale for this readable and often rivetting book. Certainly the substantial miscarriage of justice claimed by Karam has been proven.

The book is complemented by over 20 colour photographs, (some grisly), maps and drawings and contains 30 pages of appendices.
